Tokotoko bowl

Glazed with the star glaze in the studio - wood ash - with ashes collected from pizza ovens around Singapore, glaze recipe belongs to my teacher. Honestly I think this piece belongs to the home-decor category rather than a kitchenware. 

Owed this new technique to Candone Wharton who generously shared her knowledge in texture making from scratch. I gave it this name that came to my mind 'Tokotoko', then searched it up to realize it refers to a ceremonial stick in Maori. 

As I run my finger on the rim texture, it reminded me metal. This piece has got zero metal. It was the layering of different glazes that has resulted in such unique look, giving out slight sheen as if it's some kind of copper.

Please note that all ceramic pieces are handmade by myself in Singapore. Some irregularities of form in every piece does not impact its usage. Do note that each piece is fired at cone 10 (at least 1260°C) with lead-free glazes that makes our ceramic ware food-safe, dishwasher- and microwave-friendly. Please check with us if you require further information.

We suggest cleaning them once after use and avoid leaving them soaking in water.
